The first leg of the 2019 Ranch Riding Jr. Horse Troika was held May 4th at the Mayfest Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. Initiated to encourage the continual growth in Ranch Riding, $500 in prize money was added to both Arabian & HA/AA Ranch Riding Jr. Horse classes at Mayfest, Working Western Celebration, and U.S. Nationals. Prize money is distributed $150 for first, $125 for second, $100 to third, $75 to fourth, and $50 for fifth place. A beautiful trophy buckle will be awarded to the high point winner that attends all three shows.
Winners at Mayfest in the purebred division are first to SWIFTKICKNTHEPANTZ (TA Mozart x Al Marah Swift River by Al Marah Quebec+) bred by Richard Ames and owned by Susan and Riley Lallo of Pearland, TX, ridden to the win by Krista Wilkes. Second place went to KOPPERS MAJIC MIKE (Kodys Kopper Flame x DWFS Imajica+ by AM Sea Captain++) bred and owned by Deni Grisette, ridden by Riley Dublin. In the Half-Arabian division the winner was KMA HERMANO+ (Los Angeles x Prescription Cream) bred by Karma Arabians. Sterling Bradley rode the five year old to the win for owner, Karlan Downing.
“These kinds of incentives and added prize monies are what the Arabian Working Western Alliance (AWWA) hopes to create across the country to promote the breeding and showing of Working Western Arabians and Half-Arabians,” said Sandy Woerle, Executive Director of AWWA. Plans are underway for corporate sponsorships to fund these prize money events at local and Class A shows. Show managers are asked to contact Sandy at info@arabianworkingwestern.com if they are interested in offering AWWA prize money at their shows. More information can be found at the Arabian Working Western Alliance web-site.
